DISEASES BY ANIMALS

In a Large part of the United States it is against the law to own any wildlife, because of the diseases they carry. Below are listed some of the more common diseases that can be contracted by humans and animals.

Here is a link to the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC) with additional information.

RABIES

Often the symptoms look like the flu. Once the symptoms develop it is too late and is nearly always fatal. We know rabies is a serious issue. Here is a list of common carries in our area: bats, raccoons, foxes, mice, rats, dogs, cats, and coyotes. If your concerned about an animal that may be rabid and what to do – give us a call!

HISTOPLASMOSIS

This is a fungus! It is sometimes found growing in pigeon and bat droppings. If you have either or are concerned about health problems associated with histoplasmosis – give us a call we can help!

Raccoon Roundworm

Raccoon roundworm is not often found in humans but when it is it can be bad especially if it invades the eye, organs, or brain. Cleanup procedures, and complete information about raccoon roundworm can be found on our species page.

Hantavirus

Rodents and Rodent problems in an attic can be worse than you think! Histoplasmosis can be fatal, but can be avoided with proper cleanup. Again we recommend the CDC for complete information on hantavirus. If you do have a rodent problem, that your pest control guy cannot fix (he may just be treating with poison, rather than sealing your home) give us call. We work to eliminate your rodent problem for good.
